Manningtree itself is small and tightly built: mostly terraced homes and flats, a lot of them from the late 1970s to 1990s, around an older core from before 1919.
A lot of those homes run on electric heating rather than gas — more than in most of the towns we cover.
Go a few miles out and it changes. Dedham, Ardleigh and Nayland are mostly detached village homes, and a real share of them are off the gas grid on oil. We’re OFTEC registered as well as Gas Safe, so oil is covered as fully as gas.

I now have to protect the 10 year warranty with an annual service including a filter change. Gavin offers a very reliable service, with a reminder and invitation to book a time slot to maintain the service history. I used GH Heating services to install a new oil boiler, and was very satisfied with the service. I dealt with Gavin who was professional, courteous, and quick to respond to any questions. The installation was conducted within the expected timeframe, and the site was left in a clean and tidy condition. The new boiler is working as expected, and a warranty has been arranged with Gavin for 5 years to handle any product issues that may occur.Read full review
