Heat Pumps in Essex & Suffolk
Air source and ground source heat pumps — installed, serviced and repaired by engineers who also know what the rest of your system is doing.
Start here
A heat pump is not a boiler swap.
A heat pump does the same job as a boiler and does it completely differently. It runs at a much lower flow temperature, which means the rest of the system has to be able to deliver heat at that temperature — radiator sizing, pipework, insulation and controls all matter far more than they do with a gas boiler.
That is why an honest survey matters more here than anywhere else. A heat pump specified without checking those things will cost a fortune to run and will get blamed for it. Sometimes the right answer after a survey is that the property needs work first, or that a heat pump is not the sensible choice yet — and we would rather say so than sell you one.
What we do
Air source and ground source.
- Air source heat pump installation
- Ground source heat pump installation
- Full survey, heat loss assessment and system design
- Radiator and pipework upgrades where needed
- Controls, zoning and hot water cylinder integration
- Annual servicing and maintenance plans
- Repairs, diagnostics and call-outs
How it works
Surveyed, designed, then quoted.
We survey the property properly — heat loss room by room, existing emitters, pipework, insulation and how the building is actually used. That produces a design, and the design produces a fixed written quote. Skipping straight to a price is how heat pump installations go wrong.
Servicing afterwards is annual, and covers the things a gas engineer would not think to check — refrigerant circuit, defrost operation, flow temperatures and the controls that make the difference between an efficient system and an expensive one.
Common questions
What people ask about heat pumps.
Will a heat pump work in my house?
It depends on the building rather than on the heat pump. Insulation, radiator sizes and pipework decide whether it will heat the place efficiently at a low flow temperature. That is exactly what the survey establishes, and it is why we will not quote one over the phone.
Are they expensive to run?
A well-designed installation in a suitable property is competitive with gas and cheaper than oil or electric. A badly designed one is expensive, and most of the horror stories are design failures rather than technology failures.
Do I need new radiators?
Sometimes. Because a heat pump runs cooler, radiators have to be larger to give out the same heat. Some properties need every radiator changed, some need a few, some need none. The survey tells you which before you commit.
Can you service a heat pump you did not install?
Yes. They need annual servicing like any other system, and plenty of what we look after was installed by someone else.
What about the rest of my heating?
That is the advantage of using a firm that does both. We are not going to recommend a heat pump to a house that would be better served by keeping its boiler for now, and we can look after either.
