Essex
Essex is where most of our work is, and where we have been longest. From Ardleigh we reach the whole of the north and centre of the county comfortably — Colchester and its villages on the doorstep, the Tendring coast out to Harwich and Clacton, and west through Braintree, Halstead and Witham.
The housing here is genuinely varied and it changes the work. Colchester alone runs from Roman-era streets through Victorian terraces to new estates on the edges, and what a new boiler will deliver in a period cottage with original pipework is a different conversation to a like-for-like swap on a modern development. The coast adds its own problem: salt air is harder on external flues and casings than anything inland.
Plenty of the county is also off the gas grid, particularly out toward the Stour valley and the smaller Tendring villages. We are OFTEC registered as well as Gas Safe, which matters if you are on oil and have found that most engineers cannot help you.
Gavin has been servicing my gas boiler since he had to replace it's 38 year old predecessor, after I called him out to attempt to get it working. I now have to protect the 10 year warranty with an annual service including a filter change. Gavin offers a very reliable service, with a reminder and invitation to book a time slot to maintain the service history. Not quite. We cover north and mid Essex thoroughly — roughly twenty miles of Colchester for domestic work. South Essex and the Thames-side towns are outside our normal patch for a boiler service, though commercial work takes us further.

Yes, and it is a real gap in the county. Large parts of rural Essex are off the gas grid, and an oil boiler needs a different annual service that a gas-only engineer cannot carry out. We are OFTEC registered 500184.
Yes, and further out than we go for domestic. Schools, factories, retail and supermarket sites — we are SafeContractor approved and travel across the county and beyond for it.
Harwich, Clacton and Brightlingsea are all part of our regular patch rather than occasional trips. Where we have space that day we will get to you the same day; emergencies come before routine work.

Have used Gavin at GH Heating for a few years for our boiler. Earlier this week I had a problem with our water supply upstairs and rang GH on the off chance they could help. Gavin arrived first thing next morning and identified the problem, went for a new part and fitted and tested system before lunchtime that day.
